On July 14, the San Diego Regional Clean Cities Coalition hosted an event for local fleets to learn about telematics and the exciting opportunities emerging from advanced information technologies. The event began with a presentation from the Clean Cities Coalition to introduce the basics of telematics and how it can be used to improve fleet performance. Some of the advantages of fleet telematics include reduced fuel use, improved routing, increased safety and security, and lower maintenance costs. Telematics and other analytics tools also help fleets to examine the opportunity for deploying alternative fuel vehicles and better predict return on investment.
Next, a panel of three local fleet speakers shared their experiences with telematics technologies and how they reduced petroleum consumption. That panel was followed by a Q&A session with representatives from four leading technology providers. Vendors informed the audience about their innovative products, but also participated in an effective collaboration to address fleet needs moving forward.
A special thanks to all who attended and helped make the event a success. The introductory slides and a list of speakers are provided below.
