Since Clean Fuels’ inception more than a decade ago, the use of alternative fuels and vehicles have significantly helped reduce U.S. petroleum consumption. Nationally Clean Fuels stakeholders have added more than 157,000 alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) to their fleets, which have displaced approximately 133 million gallons of petroleum. Clean Cities has an impressive track record but strives for continued growth. Program strategies include:
- Building more alternative fueling infrastructure.
- Targeting niche markets that are well suited for alternative fuels.
- Training coalitions on the transition to hydrogen.
- Supporting efforts to enhance the AFV resale market.
