According to the Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative (PEVC) zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales in California have surpassed 100,000. PEVC and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) have been keeping track of the number of ZEVs sold in the state since December 2010. This milestone positions California closer to reaching Governor Jerry Brown’s goal of 1.5 million ZEVs on the road by 2025. The full news release is avialable here. Christine Kehoe, executive director of the PEVC report, “California’s plug-in electric vehicle market is ramping up, and we expect to see significant growth over the next 10 years as customers realize how economical and convenient they are.”
Locally, San Diego Gas & Electric report there being more than 10,000 electric vehicles on the road in the San Diego Region. San Diegans seem to be taking advantage of the available electric vehicle incentives and are realizing the environmental benefits and fuel and maintenance cost savings.
